Pool and Laundry

Name things that are time consuming? Tiring?

Today I accomplished two things:

1) Splish splash versus exercise.  The first three times I got in the water (and out of the chair lift) I had no idea what to do. I vividly remember pool therapy in high school but that was many moons, and many muscles ago... back when I could walk with a wheelchair.  So my legs were used to some work. And I would bicycle kick my legs while doggy paddling and go from one end of the pool to the other. Lather. Rinse. Repeat.

I do not think I can kick my legs that way anymore but today I managed some type of water jogging. And I know it was good because my lungs got quite a workout.

As far as laundry goes I hate folding clothes. Especially the kids' stuff because it invariably gets so wrinkled it becomes impossible to crease.  And you can forget about it if my arms are achey.

Gonna call the surgeries a success because today I folded a ton of clothes without blinking.

Celebrating Cans

Neuropathy can be defined as a series of cans and cannots.  Or more subconsiously a string of cannots.

Cannot walk.
Cannot breath normally.
Cannot --------.

So happiness can be found in the small things; maybe something we did not know we had adapted to, or something which gradually, through tears and sweat, has moved from cannot ---> can.  Because honestly that arrow is flipped so much of the time.  And presuming we cannot do something, that lack of self efficacy, zaps of our confidence and the cannot prediction becomes a prophesy.

So today I am celebrating cans. And I ask you to do the same.

As of today I discovered that I can:

Cut open a package I got in the mail using kiddie scissors. Which was driven by my impatience in having to wait all day to have help.

Open popped popcorn twice.  Which was driven indirectly by my itty bitty's impatience in waiting for his snack and directly by current popcorn fix. Times two as we wanted more.

Turns out the fork is a must for opening up a popcorn bag.  The grip is just right to hold in between my gripless fingers and puncture the perforated bag opening.  Kind of ironic since a toddler fork is not intended for a toddler to open a hot bag of popcorn.
